Our vision for Brighton and Hove is rooted in Reform UK’s central priorities of Family, Community, and Country.
Reform UK want to see a district where families feel supported, where community ties are strengthened, and where taxpayers’ money is used responsibly to deliver services that genuinely improve people’s lives. That means local government that listens to residents, acts on their concerns, and avoids wasteful projects while focusing on what matters most – safe streets, good local facilities, and opportunities for people to thrive.
We are currently working on our detailed plan for Local Government.
At its heart Reform UK have two key aims: Delivering Value for Local Taxpayers, and Focusing on Great Core Services.
Reform UK believes in putting money back in people’s pockets. We will strive to deliver council tax freezes, supported by targeted cuts by reducing bureaucracy and waste. We will conduct ongoing independent efficiency audits of all council services. Continually identifying areas for cost savings, so we can redirect funds to frontline services.
At a County and District Council level, we will:
- Fix the roads properly: End the pothole patch-up culture. Prioritise long-term resurfacing contracts with penalties for poor performance.
- Fix Social Care: Cut red tape and invest in frontline carers, not administrators. We will promote partnerships with local charities and care co-operatives.
- Publish all council spending over £500 and publish senior staff salaries and expenses monthly.
- Better Education Oversight: Support school choice, back academies, and demand higher standards from local education providers.
- Guarantee weekly bin collections and improve recycling processes.
- Stronger Environmental Enforcement: Tackle fly-tipping and rogue landlords. Back local officers to act fast.
